I look back on my time here
Oh, the stories I can tell.
The children I have taught
Their future’s I wish well.

I think about the salmon,
The journey that they take
Their destiny, the ocean
After surviving stream and lake

I look upon that journey
And feel I can relate
A great big sea before me
My boat adrift in fate

I take some lessons with me
Know more crafts and games
Confidence is bolstered
A new me, not the same

Yet still with love of nature
and drive to spread the word
We all live on this planet
With mammal, fish and bird.

Together we sail forward
Our lives, they are soul tied
My part to be remembered
By those I’ve helped to guide

And like those stalwart salmon
Who always know their home
This place I will always remember
As if written in a tome
