About Us - Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center
|
- Abundant streams of Wild Salmon are a must for the human and natural ecosystems of the entire Pacific Northwest. Saving the Wild Salmon, for all future generations can only happen through adaptive inclusive research and a profound and long-lasting educational effort. We will win or lose the Wild Salmon based upon the public perception of its value. This public value is reflected in political decisions affecting Wild Salmon survival.
Three outstanding organizations dedicated to healthy natural ecosystems joined forces and formed the PACIFIC NORTHWEST SALMON CENTER (PNWSC), an education and research facility that crosses international boundaries. These organizations are: the Mary E. Theler Community Center, Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG), and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). The Directors from this non-profit organization have an option on a perfect location - 90 acres in Belfair, "where Hood Canal begins", and are starting design work for the phased construction of the facility. It is anticipated that the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center will begin operation in 2010.
